I Suck At Being A Grown Up

With my 24th birthday fast approaching, it got me thinking. Being an adult is hard. I still feel like I’m 17 sometimes. Ah, 2009. Those were the days. I spent my summer playing Elder Scrolls and getting drunk from 2 WKDs. Now, I have bills to pay and a 9-5 office job.

Every now and again, I need to laugh at myself. Over the last few weeks, I’ve come up with the below reasons as to why I fail at being a grown up…

  • 90% of my meals are microwaved
  • I still clean the kitchen sides by brushing things off onto the floor… I can vacuum that later
  • I physically cannot organise my money, I spend way too much on books, clothes and nerdy merchandise
  • I daydream A LOT… usually about fictional universes that I create in my head
  • I still play Pokemon and I don’t see me quitting ever
  • I constantly put things off and tell myself that it’s a problem for “future me”
  • I lost my bank card twice last month
  • I also lost my passport, only to find it two days later inside the book I was reading
  • I lost £10 on a night out last weekend, found it the next day inside my passport
  • I lost my national insurance card
  • I don’t know my bra size
  • I wash whites and darks in the washing machine together
  • I “wing it” at almost everything
  • I’ll be dressing up as Mikasa Ackerman from Attack On Titan for Manchester Comic Con in July and I can’t freaking wait
  • I get stroppy when people make spelling mistakes and I often feel the need to correct them
  • I don’t understand politics and feel like an idiot when people talk about elections
  • It takes at least 5 alarms before I acknowledge that I need to get up on a morning
  • I really like naps

… and most likely many more. Are you the same? I know I’m not the only one freaking out about getting older.
